Located along US-12 between Knapp and Menomonie, this deck girder span is the fourth and final crossing of Wilson Creek on this route.
Originally built in 1912 during a double tracking project, the bridge initially featured three deck girder spans. However, some event happened around 1940 that required the reconstruction of the bridge, and the bridge was rebuilt with new steel stringer I-Beam approaches and concrete pile substructures.
It is presently unknown what this event could be, although it was possibly a flood or similar natural disaster. The main span bears similarity to others along this route.
While the bridge was built for two tracks, and continued to carry two tracks until 1962, the north track was removed sometime after 1962. It is unknown if the second track spans were reused at other locations.
Overall, the bridge appears to be in good condition, with little deterioration noted. The author will continue to investigate the mysterious background of this bridge.
The author has ranked the bridge as being locally significant, due to the common design.
